Arizona State Parks Near Tucson



Yes, there are many more Arizona State Parks than are listed below, but these are all within about an hour's drive from Tucson, which makes for a good day trip.


Boyce Thompson Arboretum - Plants, animals, gardens, hummingbirds, butterfies, weekend guided tours... Boyce Thompson Arboretum is a nature-filled park awaiting your camera and hiking boots.

Catalina State Park - A great park a few minutes north of Ina Road. Relatively flat terrain is great for picnics (grills provided), hiking/walking and camping.

Kartchner Caverns State Park - A recently opened "live" limestone cave near Benson, Arizona.




McFarland State Historic Park - Built in 1878 from hand-made adobe bricks, this historic building was a jail, then a hospital.
