Arizona Cities Close to Tucson

Desert, Mountain, Riparian, Western...
So Many Choices!

Aside from Phoenix, other Arizona cities do not have your typical suburbs, but we do have many cities and towns within about an hour's drive.

If you want to see the desert, try Picture Rocks
If you want mountains and pine trees, try Oracle
If you want history, try Tombstone and Bisbee
If you want cooler weather, try Sierra Vista

If you're anxious to get out of town for relaxation, exercise, photography, biking or whatever else, let's see what southern Arizona has to offer...

(More and more nearby town information is being added regularly.

North of Tucson

Casa Grande - Outlet malls and Hohokam Indian Ruins
Catalina - Wide open spaces, cooler.
Oracle - Snow in winter, "forest" trees, hiking.
Oro Valley - Tucson's northwest side growing "suburb".
San Manuel - A mining town just past Oracle, AZ.

West of Tucson

Ajo - Means "garlic" in Spanish.
Marana - Used to be farming land. Now it's another growing NW "suburb".
Picture Rocks - Saguaro National Monument, gorgeous sprawling desert, one of my faves!
Three Points - A nice drive through the desert to get here.

South of Tucson

Arivaca - Out of the desert, an art &Iamp; music community and ghost town.
Corona de Tucson - Another of my favorite small towns.
Douglas - Just north of the Mexico border
Green Valley - Known for retirement living.
Nogales - Just across the Mexico border.
Patagonia - Patagonia lake and birdwatcher's haven.
Rio Rico - A planned community near Nogales.
Sahuarita - A growning "out of town" community.
Sonoita - Rolling hills, open spaces, a great drive!
Tumacacori - A National Hisotric Park
Tubac - Artists haven with unique shops and galleries.
Vail - Open desert and now a growing community.

East of Tucson

Benson - A growing small town about 30 minutes away.
    Bisbee - Historic mining town.
Safford - A much cooler town, tucked away off the beaten path.
Sierra Vista - The Fort Huachuca military base is here.
St. David - Gorgeous, very small riparian area. Another fave!
Tombstone - Historic "old west" town, home of the OK Corral.
